Avondale Self Storage has been in business for nigh on 15 years now, so I’d like to think we know our industry well. By knowing an industry, you know it’s busy and quiet periods throughout the year. Traditionally for us, spring meant very busy, summer busy, autumn steady and winter quiet. Well this is what I mean by ‘times are changing’, as that reliable old sequence has gone out the window! Winter, or more specifically, December has become our busiest time.

So, what’s the reason for this I hear you ask. It seems mostly down to the housing market, as that’s why most of our customers need a storage unit. They’re either changing location for work, upsizing, downsizing or, as we’re seeing more often, new couples merging from two house’s in to one. Why they’re choosing to do this in the winter rather than spring is anyone’s guess.

There’s another clientele who we’re always saddened to see around Christmas time, and that’s those whose relationships have come to an end. 2019 seemed to be particularly prevalent for this, but at least those who use us are glad to have found a safe secure storage unit for their possessions, hence taking a small weight off their mind.

On a much cheerier note, we’re finding more customers are using Self Storage to stash away the Christmas presents until the big day, hence the ‘Avondale Elf Storage’ blog we did back in December.

Whatever the reasons, we’re more than happy with the way Self Storage seasons are changing, just as long as we’re welcoming you through our doors!
